The H17- Pro offers uses a rich range of features for gaming excellence. This board is designed for those who only use a single video card which is 99% of the market. Very few actually use dual video cards.

The H170 Pro has the most important features anyone would need, The M.2 slot for a SSD, USB 3.1 and lots of slots for peripherals. SATA Express is available but so far not many choices for storage.

With 3 PCI Express x1 slots, the H170 Pro can handle an 802.11ac Wi-Fi card and other devices easily.

The H170 Pro has VGA,. DVI, HDMI and DP all available for any display available. Asus is expecting many may use the integrated graphics with this board.

The USB 3.1 is available with Type A and Type C ports. The Type C are the new reversible type while type A are backwards compatible with the previous USB standard.

This board has more fan headers than many lower cost boards but one header that still does not appear is the top fan. Many chassis now have top fans to remove excess heat.

There have been numerous BIOS updates for the H170 Pro. Its advisable to upgrade the BIOS as the early ones are rather buggy. This board has limited overclocking features, it’s designed for lower cost processors.

The user manual has a mistake on RAM placement. Use A1 B1 for a 2 stick placement. We prefer to use 4 sticks for more memory capacity and bandwidth.

BUILD

This board easily fits into most chassis easily.  The triangle on the CPU should point at the circle on the CPU socket. 4 sticks of DDR4-2133 would provide abundant performance.

Video cards are easy to install or removed with the high quality clip that can be reached from both sides.. Older boards were more prone to damage with the older clip design.

Make sure all the drivers are installed before using the USB ports for charging phones etc.
