FIX WINDOWS WAKING LAPTOP UNEXPECTEDLY

Windows-10-logoFor some reason we have experienced a problem with laptop machines waking up when the screen is closed. This can be a problem for machines that are being transported as they can suffer damage to the hard disk.

POWER OPTIONS

  1. Open the  Power Options
  2. *In the current power plan, click the entry Change plan settings, then click on Change advanced power settings
  3. Under Power options click on the plus sign in Sleep.
  4. Click on the plus sign in Allow wake times.
  5. Now change the preference under Allow wake times from Enable in Disable. If you are using a mobile PC, enable for both areas On battery and Network operation.
  6. When finished, click OK.

NETWORK & MOUSE DEVICE OPTIONS

  1. Open the “Device Manager”
  2. Expand the list for “Network adapters”
  3. Right-click the adapter to be configured and choose “Properties”. There may be several adapters, one for Ethernet, one for wireless, and others like Bluetooth
  4. Then go to “Power Management” tab
  5. Uncheck “Allow this device to wake the computer”
  6. Click “OK”.
  7. Expand the list for “Mice and other pointing devices”
  8. Next check the HID-compliant mouse
  9. Right-click the mouse to be configured and choose “Properties”.
  10. Then go to “Power Management” tab
  11. Uncheck “Allow this device to wake the computer”
  12. Click “OK”.

WINDOWS TROUBLESHOOTER

  1. Open Setting
  2. Select Update & Security
  3. Select Troubleshoot
  4. Select Power

Now your machine should not wake up when its closed and being transported.
