headerHard Reset was released on September 13, 2011 by Flying Wild Hog who also developed the game, Hard Reset is a first person shooter. The team behind it hails from all across the development landscape, including members from CD Projekt Red (The Witcher 2) and People Can Fly (Bulletstorm). The developers worked for about 2 years on this game.

If you have played Doom or Quake this game would be rather familiar. The game is clearly inspired by the classic shooters.

There are secret areas where health and ammo can be found. Exploding barrels and a few vending machines round out the game.

Hard Reset features only two weapons, the CLN Modular Assault Rifle, and the EEF-21 Plasma Rifle. Both weapons have unlockable firing modes, the Modular Assault Rifle including the option to strap add-ons such as grenade and rocket launchers, and the plasma rifle allowing railguns and stasis modules.

The player will find exploration is part of the game. The maps are fairly difficult to play, more so than many other shooters around. The game is lacking in plot big time.

The game has lots of small mechanical bots that attack in swarms. There can be lots of them, enough to overwhelm the assault rifle. There are lots of bot so it is a good idea have a way to run backwards to gain time to shoot them all. The larger mechanicals are easier to kill with the plasma weapon.

The game does have lots of dynamic elements with windows and doors being blow out. Lots of things can be move around while others are fixed in place. Overall the game world is excellent.

Players can be killed by burning barrels or flames from various places. Some care is needed to avoid hazards like exploding barrels and other flammables.

Hard Reset: Exile is a free expansion for Hard Reset. It was first released in April 2012 as a part of boxed Hard Reset re-release called Hard Reset: Extended Edition.

The game does not have multiplayer capability. The game is single player only.
