Windows Hello is a new biometric framework designed to make it easier to use a PC. By using facial recognition or a fingerprint, Windows can bypass the need for passwords and PIN codes.
We have a Lenovo X220 which has been upgraded to Windows 10. The machine has an integrated fingerprint reader and a camera. Windows recognizes the fingerprint scanner but the 720p camera is not supported. Windows presently only works with Intel’s cameras seen on more recent machines.
Some Windows 10 users may have to enable a policy to select using biometric authentication. Press Win+R and select
The double click on Administrative Templates, then select Windows Components and Biometrics. Enable the biometrics and this will allow Windows to use the fingerprint scanner.
Swiping a finger is a lot easier than typing a 16 character password.
